The spacious sunroom atop the old Kansas City hotel is what attracts artists and tourists from around the world. The fast check in / out is another feature that makes impressions on those who require simplicity. An elaborate caged elevator will steadily haul guests to the artists’ suite atop the hotel to catch a view of whatever the transient artists are doing or painting.
Viewing hours are irregular and sometimes, depending on the personalities of the artists, cancelled without notice. But visitors need not fear, a lounge in the basement serves up pitchers of a local brew that raises spirits. Too, there is a shot bar where "surprise" shots or "Kansas City Depth Chargers" are specialties.
There are signs posted near the ashtrays that inform the customers that smoking is prohibited. An antique vending machine dispenses popular brands of smokes for .00. Another feature of the lounge is the surplus L & M Cigarettes still being sold at reduced prices. According to Marty Smart, bartender, there is no expiration date on the L & M cigarettes and they will continue to be sold for .00 per pack until they are gone. "We got enough to last through 2012," Marty told the TYME reporter covering the story.

Burj Al Arab (Arabic: برج العرب,Tower of the Arabs) is a luxury hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At 321 m (1053 ft), it is the fourth tallest hotel in the world. Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island 280 m (920 ft) from Jumeirah beach and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. The shape of the structure is designed to mimic the sail of a ship. Sometimes referred to as “the world’s only seven-Star hotel”, its star rating is disputed. The beachfront area where Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel are located was previously called Chicago Beach.The hotel is located on an island of reclaimed land 280 meters offshore of the beach of the former Chicago Beach Hotel. The locale’s name had its origins in the Chicago Bridge & Iron Company which at one time welded giant floating oil storage tankers on the site. The old name persisted after the old Hotel was demolished in 1997. Dubai Chicago Beach Hotel remained as the Public Project Name for the construction phase of Burj Al Arab Hotel until Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the new name.
